Tragedy in Omaha

I'll keep this short. After today's senseless tragedy, I'd like to let everyone know that we are all fine.

During the shooting, I was at work. (See map below. My office is point A. The shooting was at point B).

Needless to say, we're pretty shook up..... yet we are so blessed that we're merely "shook up". There are others whose lives will be forever changed after today.

While at work, I heard a bunch of sirens and saw the helicopters going around the mall, but honestly didn't think much of it. Obviously, I was wrong. Our prayers go out to all the families involved.

Oh my gosh. I found your blog completely by accident and was shocked and saddened to see your posting about today's terrible tragedy in Nebraska. Take care. I have taught a lot of students that have been adopted from other countries and they have proven to be a great blessing to the families and definitely a joy to know. Good luck.

We are glad you are safe. What a senseless tragedy. Life is so precious, and it is so sad when horrible events like this happen.

Our prayers are with the families that are grieving right now.

I just learned of this tragedy by reading your blog entry. I am sorry for your town. By sheer coincidence I was with my son, adopted from Russia, now 8 years old, yesterday afternoon in Springfield Mall near Philadelphia where there was a similar shooting in 1985. While we were eating our lunch I mentioned this to him. It is a bit unsettling to me that this happened on the same day that I was at that mall discussing just such an incident. Random violence. What a real sadness.

Glad to hear that you are safe. That was a terrible tragedy and so close to Christmas. Those poor families.

I wanted to tell you that I loved your last post reflecting back on your time spent on trip 1. The wait is so hard and I know yours has been harder since you've had to wait for your child to be placed on the Russian databank. I just wanted to thank you for sharing a moment from your first trip.

I'm also glad to hear that you got some updated pictures. We were so hoping to get the same when another family went to our region, but we've gotten no additional information. I guess no news is good news, right?

Merry Christmas and it looks like the ticker is making progress. Less than 3 months now!! Yeah!!
