Birthday Boy

Our little Zac is turning 2 years old next week. We really thought that we would have him home by now, so there is some emotion floating around this event. Regardless, Katie and I have decided to have a birthday party for our little guy. (just us, our kids and our parents) Obviously, we'll be missing the "boy of the day"...

Additionally, we found out that our agency is going to attempt to deliver a cake to Zac's orphanage on his birthday. How cool is that? Even bigger than that, they are going to try to capture pictues of him the day of his birthday. The ultimate would be if he got a haircut for his birthday. (I'm quickly stepping up into the role of his father, aren't I? ..... "cut that hair, boy")

Of course, it goes without saying that we'd much rather have him here in person, but if we can't have that, then I'm glad that he'll have something.

Happy Birthday to Zac. Sounds like your agency and coordinator are really working with you during your wait.

Great way to honor him and to show him pictures when he's home letting him know just how much you wanted him home.
Happy Birthday Zac.

Yea! I'm glad you are having a party as a family. What a great way to honor your little one's special day. I'm sure it will be bittersweet though.

Terrific idea. I was hoping to celebrate Zac's birthday. Your agency is super too - can't wait to see and hear what they have to share. It's so great that he has your agency to extend some special care and attention to him. Hmmm, now what to get him - obviously the size 18 month clothes will be a bit small in 5 more months. Are clothes on his wish list? Or...perhaps he would just wish to see his Mommy and Daddy again -- its only 142 days and 3 hours now. Love, N

Praying for you AND Zac!!

I know how hard our DD's birthday away from us was . . .

Just tuning in to your blog. I know how hard waiting can be, but at least you have a date - this is a good thing.

Log story short...We met our daughter a year ago on trip one. After we met her, her grandmother applied for custody. They were pretty sure that the grandmother would not get custody, but no guarantees were given. We decided to wait it out. Now, a year later we are finally home with our daughter.

We, too had a little party on her birthday during the wait. Nothing big, just a cake with our immediate family and we sang Happy Birthday. I wondered if I might regret it later in case things didn't work out in our favor, but then I thought, no, I had to do it. Even if it didn't work out I had to celebrate her special day.

Happy Birthday sweet boy! How nice that you may get to see pictures of him on his birthday! Your agency sounds great, and I would definitely have your own little party at home and take pictures to show to Zac later :O)
